Packaging is everything!

 I was just browsing in Watsons after lunch & something caught my eye.

A BIG Yellow tube of sunblock from Nivea it looks so cute. Do I need it ? Well it's really appealing , I bought it.

It happens to me a lot. I bought chocolate from AWFULLY Chocolate even though I dont really eat chocolate just because the box is sooooo..... COOL

What's wrong with me ???

A passenger ask my colleague out during flight & she said yes.

A passenger ask my colleague out during flight & she said yes. We get that sometimes but this particular colleague is different. I know her quite well & she has always told me, she would never go out with a passenger. So what's so special about this one. We were on the same flight, so I'm very curious. I walk up & down the aisle scrutinizing him. OK not only me, we all did. The flight was long & we were bored & this was fun ....lol...

Hmmm... he looks to be of medium height, his hair is all intact (that's important) about 35. Before we know it, some of us we were striking up conversations with him as well. And before we even landed in Singapore, we have a good background check on him. But of course this is only according to him. My chief said we need to check his facebook ...lol... we all agree!

He seem to have many friends. Pics on facebook showed that he traveled a lot & is into sports. Lots of pics with him sky diving, rock climbing & even some showing him trekking in some mountains. As for my friend, hmmm... she's into shopping, high tea & more shopping. We highlighted that to her & she said, she's sure he shop too!

I've not seen her in weeks, so I called to check on her progress with "Mr Adventure". She said she's in love! Wow !!! That's a new & unexpected development. According to her, she has never met anyone like him. All the men in Singapore are boring but the new beau is full of life & adrenaline. They will be driving all the way up to Penang for a short 4 days break. They'll be looking for some waterfall & he's planning to jump off one. Do I want to join?
Ahemm....No thank you.....
This is all too sudden & exciting, even for me!

Do you love being the center of attention?

Do you love being the center of attention? Some of us do , don't we? Some might prefer slipping into a cave of some kind & disappear for good. Then the majority of us would be kinda in between. There are moments we would love people noticing us. And when they do that, we shine even more!

Someone I know is just like that, charming as hell. Also manipulative as well. That's my younger sister ...haha... She can talk her way into anything. She just did last night. We end up having to pay for her vacation across Europe. Not that I'm regretting my role in it. She has been doing so well in school & she deserve a Big Break, before she enter the work force proper. The whole family just want to do that for the baby of the family.

A trip to Europe is fine, BUT a brand new car as well? Like I said she definitely deserve the trip. The car... hmmm... dad said she has been driving this old car to school & it's not safe. Now that she'll be starting her first job after the trip, she needs something better. The old car might break down on her in the middle of the afternoon, & who is going to help her? Also what if her iphone breaks down too, at the same time? So many co-incidences all at once? Dad said it could happen ...lol..

Well in that case, she need an upgrade to the latest iPhone then. What if something happened to her in Europe, & she can't get us? We all agree she needs a new phone. By the end of the night, she has a brand new trip, a new car & a new iPhone. She didn't do much, she don't have to, she's just crazy sweet as usual & we love her & is very proud of her.

Alkaline water

Last year my dad bought a fancy Alkaline machine that turns tap water into alkaline water. It's not cheap $2000 plus. So what it does? It supposedly helps to neutralize the acid in the bloodstream, which leads to increased oxygen levels & higher energy. Obviously it's not been scientifically proven. But that did not stop these companies from promoting them as if this will be the thing we need most & it'll improve & possibly cure everything.

Now one year later, my acid reflux condition has not been improved, in fact it has gotten worse. None of us have changed much. So is it a gimmick? Sigh.... what is not these days?

Mum has been complaining that the 'damn' machine is occupying too much space in the kitchen. I'm actually wondering if mold would be growing ,living & lurking in the machine itself. It's a concern right? My sister said if it breaks down, it'll solve all the problems ....lol...
However, it seems strong, too strong!

Maybe we can just take alkaline food instead?

So when is the perfect age to get married ?

I met up with a group of friends 2 days ago, we were secondary school classmates before. One is missing, as all of us have decided not to include her. She's the one that's always spoiling the party. I've talk about her in the last post. She'll come to these gatherings & tell us how successful all of us are, except her. She has gotten married only 1 year after graduation, while some of us are not even attached now !

The baby came soon after, so she's busy with motherhood, while all of us are kinda enjoying our single life. We can empathize but it had gotten real bad. She had started making all of us feel really bad. As if we have left her behind on purpose while we go on with our 'glamorous life'. We end up talking about why each of us stopped calling her.

The common consensus is that, she made us seem like villains. It's crazy. Though she'll refuse to admit, it's really about her regretting getting married & having a baby too soon. We cringe at the thought of having to take care of a baby, a home, a husband & in-laws at this moment. Of course in the future, we'll all want a family of some kind, but certainly not now .... we are still young.

So when is the perfect age to get married for a girl? 30, 35? Would that be too late for babies? Not if you do not want a child. Strangely it seems, it's not so important for us, but if the other party wanted children, ok then no choice. LOL.... We seem to agree with that!

We have nothing against babies, as long as it's not mine ....lol....

Letting people go ...

I have this friend who kept telling me what a perfect career I have. It got to the point where I have to gently tell her it's not perfect, in fact it's down right awful. The long hours, the lack of rest, the pay etc... Then after all that, & also reassuring how wonderful her life really is, she'll kinda calm down. Unfortunately the 'same' thing will start again the next time I talk to her.

It got to the point where I avoid talking so much to her. Now she's complaining to others, I'm too busy with my glamorous life. It's been a while since I talk to her. So last night I called, to check on her. After badgering me for a bit, she sort of told me off.

Well I guess I have to take it as a signal. Sometimes you just need to let someone go. A mutual friend sent me the below pic, she was the first to stop contacting her ...lol...

I've done worse since my break up, or have I not ?

I've finally open the Christmas present from my EX, it's a very nice bracelet from Tiffany's which I love. Sigh.... As you all know my EX & I are still friends. So I texted to say "thank you & you shouldn't have, since we are no longer attached." Then he said, "I saw the bracelet, & couldn't stop thinking you'll love it, so I bought it ". Now I wander what will his present girl friend think of that!

Anyway , Yesterday morning he text me, " what is it I heard about this Hank guy? You dating him?" I don't know, I immediately felt a little angry- how dare he? We broke up, he has no rights to "check" on me like that. Plus Hank the guy that I went out with only twice so far (after knowing him for about 4-5 months) , is not as good looking as my ex. Also financially not as stable, so in a way it's like I've done "worst" since the break-up ! My ego was hurt. But Hank is a nice guy, very considerate maybe too nice for me!

Mel the colleague who had introduce Hank to me on her wedding day (can you imagine!!!!) thinks that my EX is not over me yet. Anyway I don't know what's the deal, but after a few heated texts, we decided to meet for lunch. I wanted to tell him off to his face.

Lunch was too elaborate, at a fancy place. It felt like a date, which I'm wary of. My bestie reminded me, the reason why we broke off, so I'm suppose to just be polite , tell him off, or to mind his own business, eat my lunch & go back home or go shopping. He arrived wearing the first tie I bought for him. I should have throw it away, when I have the chance. Anyway we were talking  & he has to go into why am I 'short changing ' myself with someone who's clearly not my equal ( meaning someone who's making less than me ). I shouldn't have agree to this lunch. I immediately felt like seeing Hank tonight, just to get back at the Ex.

I quickly finish lunch, tell him how wonderful Hank is, which I could see pisses him off. We parted , both angry, as usual! I texted Hank, arranged for dinner !

Is it right to receive gifts from ex-boyfriends?

My Ex boyfriend gave me this for last Christmas.

No I've not open it yet, as I don't know what to expect. I know it's been like 20 days already. Is it even right to receive expensive Tiffany gifts from an EX ? Why does he do it? He said it's nothing- he just want to give me something for Christmas. But it's Tiffany's ! You don't go around giving normal exes gifts from Tiffany's right?

My friends said I should just open it & see if it's silver or gold ! Oh... boy....  Meantime it's sitting on my bed side table. He just texted & ask me if I like it? Told him I've not open it. He said I should, he had spent 1 hour choosing it !

Dr Stretch, The latest Stretch Therapy ! I'm going to try it :))

I was complaining to a friend about my sluggish body etc.... Also I'm not into massage & don't like exercising.

What to do after I quit flying ?

I have often being ask what would I do after I quit flying. It has always been assumed I would quit after a few years & move on to something better & more solid. What people do not know is, many of my colleagues do stay on for a long long time. Like a friend from another airline, she worked till retirement age at 55. I had met her when she took my flight a few years back. It was a long flight & she talked to me & ask me about my company, just to pass the time I guess.

Anyway, no harm planning for the future right? Another colleague of mine & a good friend said we should attend some courses- To net work & check out some possible opportunities. So we did. We signed up for one of those courses that's very popular now. I would not say which here because, even though I dont find it very helpful. Still I'm sure it could help certain people. The contents is pretty common sense.

Like they stress we should hang out with positive people. Because being with them you'll be inspired to work harder & be more positive, which is a per-requisite in fulfilling goals. They site some studies that reveal our friends & colleagues greatly impact the choices we make in life, therefore we need to be selective with people whom we hang out with most. I was thinking you dont need studies to know that right? I see many people taking notes & later go up to the instructor asking multiple questions. Me & my friend were more interested in checking out who are the people who goes to such events.

Many are middle aged possibly got retrenched. Or maybe they just want a second career. We were busy discussing our theory when this guy started talking to us & eventually ask for our numbers to 'keep in touch' ...lol.... In all by the end of the course, we had collected more than 10 numbers, all male, all insisting on keeping in touch ....lol....

Please keep in touch baby ...lol...

Does your mum pack your traveling bag?

I have this group of very close friends from work & we hang out all the time. Last week we had steam boat, and one of them brought a new colleague along. A young guy, less then a year with the company,I've never flown with him before. When I went to the restroom, I passed him in the corridor , he was on his cell.  I overheard part of his conversation. I don't mean to but ..... , He was calling home to his mum, asking her to pack his luggage bag as he'll be flying off  the next day.

When I told the rest later, everyone go  ...WHAT ......... ??? As if he's 5? He is 25 by the way. Zara said his mother could be choosing all the different color underwear .... & packing them nicely into the luggage....lol.... what a mummy's boy. We went on to tease him mercilessly throughout the night.

What bothers me even more is that he's surprise we don't let our mums pack our bags when we travel. Oh boy..... he thought we were weird for not letting our mums do that !!! I ask him, can I put this in my blog. He said : ya sure, just make sure everyone knows he's good looking ...lol...
Ok people , seriously .... he's very cute ...haha...

Lobster Poutine in Nova Scotia , yum !!!

I didn’t know what Losbster poutine is, until I visited Nova Scotia, last year. I had promised myself to write about it but as usual life gets in the way & it completely slipped my mind. Until 2 days when I looked through all pics taken last year & there the pic of the dish pops up. And I almost booked myself another ticket just to visit this beautiful place again. Well, the journey is long & I seriously don’t have the time, so I started googling for the recipe, hopefully mum can whip up some magic.

As you have it, the recipe is so simple, 3 delicious food items and throw them together in a bowl. End of recipe. It’s like a big pile of everything you’ve ever loved, only covered in gravy and cheese . So, really, it is better than everything you’ve ever loved.

Last year I ran out of places to visit & sure enough, Lolli my bestie suggested Nova Scotia. Hmmm…. Never thought of that place. Just know it through my mum’s favourite Singer carly Simon’s classic hit : “You’re so Vain”. Anyway fast forward, within like 2 months, me, Lolli & mum were in Nova Scotia! The best place on Earth & we have our first taste of the Lobster Poutine- the pride of Nova scotia besides Carly Simon’s “you’re so vain” of course. First tried it at McKelvie's Delishes Fishes Dishes. We ate it for lunch, went back for dinner & rushed to another restaurant for it the following day at breakfast. Mum suggested we should buy property in town so that we could stick around for more.

Is lobster poutine so good? Yes it is !

Every once in a while my heels kinda cracked. Due to my constant traveling especially to winter & dry places. Most of us protect & takes care of our face well, but we usually neglect our poor heels. Friends at war ????

Last week I received a text from a friend (A), to ask me to tell another friend (B) to back off: i.e. to stop telling her what to do, what to wear etc.... Hmmm.... it happens. Like some smarty pants said " If you are not offending someone, you are boring everyone!"

I obediently relay the message while I was at the airport ready to fly off to Europe. As you all know it's winter over there now, very cool, gloomy, days are short & nights are long. When I touch down in Europe & return to my hotel, there's about a few dozen messages from the two of them. Third world war has just begin! I spend the rest of my time there trying to calm the situation, thank God for whats app!

By the time I return back to Singapore,war is still raging. It seems I've somehow made it worse by 'being diplomatic" ...lol..
I decided to include a 4th party, hey the more the merrier right. Besides I don't want to be the only one sandwiched between them in a senseless dispute. Now the newly included 4th party ( C ) (another good friend) was mad with all of us- for excluding her in all of this until now ...lol...

So everything takes a new turn, it became all about  (C ) now. Well at least the initial dispute was kinda forgotten, as we have to answer to C, why she's always the last to know about anything & everything! Friends ....lol...

Lets make-up guys ....lol...

Santa's naughty list

Merry Christmas All.

Are you active on Facebook? Like almost everyone I know, I used to be in the beginning but now I've not updated mine for almost a year! Then yesterday I've got a message from a friend asking me to check my account. I did, & woh..... discovered an online dispute had erupted between a couple of my friends. I had to spend almost half an hour tracing what happened, who said what etc.... Won't bored you with the details.

Well in short : Anything you say can & will be used against you on Facebook.

Hope they'll make-up soon, it's Christmas after all! If not both will end up in Santa's naughty list ...haha...

"An-all-you-can-eat" buffet?

You know you are hanging out with the wrong crowd when 3 of your close friends sms you simultaneously asking you 'if there's anything on God's earth better than "an-all-you-can-eat" buffet? When I said I'll pass, 3 sms followed with versions of " dammit, are you a Singaporean? "

Well this weekend the 4 of us happens to be in town at the same time & in our line of work that's a rarity , so ..... we decided to invite one more colleague to join as we've not seen each other in ages. 4 of us sms her at once, as it's more persuasive in numbers. She answer back " do you know there are millions of people who lives on less than 500 calories a day? "
We decided to send her these food icons to shut her up

Then I suddenly thought it might be better if I'll just reassure her, I'll bring my fat burner garbaslim. Sure enough, it works ...lol.. Buffet at The Line Restaurant , Shangri-La Hotel, booked for the weekend....yum !

Long long time ago .... in our business class:))

I've heard this story years ago when I started flying from one of the senior crew (Ken) , he has since left the airlines. Had meant to share this story but kept forgetting. Yesterday when I was talking to another colleague, his name came up & I immediately remember this cute story. So here it is, before I forget again!

This happened long ago when the airlines had just started the business class. People were still new to it. Ken was just a new flight attendant back then. It happened on a flight to Japan. He first saw the male passenger, a typical uncle type , sitting in the wrong seat. Lets call him Mr X.

Ken politely asked for his boarding pass.
Mr X: I'm in the right seat !
Ken: I'm not questioning that sir, it could be a problem with the booking system.
Mr X reluctantly took out his boarding pass. Ken then realized the man is not only in the wrong seat, he's in the wrong section.
Ken: Mr X, you are actually booked in our business class, up front.
Mr X : Business? I'm not traveling on business. I'm visiting my daughter.
Ken: Mr X, business class is not just for business travelers. The seats have more room, quality of service is higher.You are supposed to be in a much more expensive seat sir.
Mr X: My son-in-law bought the ticket, I don't know anything about that, but I'm settled in right here, thank you! I've taken out my medicine, my reading glasses & book. I'm not going to pack all these up again & move to a different seat.

Ken had never dealt with a situation like this before. The Japanese lady whose EY seat Mr X occupied was standing behind him not knowing what's going on!
Ken tried one more time: Sir do you mean you prefer to remain here for the flight? Your business class seat will be much more comfortable. You have already paid for it.
Mr X:  That's what I said, didn't I? I don't like  business people. Bunch of crooks. I want to be right here, in the middle of the plane where I'm safe, not up front in the death zone. That's what I told my daughter, & that's what I want.

End of story ...lol... The Japanese lady got his seat in the business class. And for the rest of the 7-8 hours flight he made life pretty difficult for poor Ken. Ken never forget this incident, but when he relate it to us, it's always hilarious.

Sometimes you capture these random moments , just people going about their daily lives that when photographed can produce these moving images.

For me, the pictures where I go undetected as not to disturbed the natural flow of things are my favorite. It is when you are looking back at those images that you sometimes discover more than you originally saw through the camera lens in the first place. Picture below is just a normal street scene from one of my trips to Taipei. Notice how natural & happy the lady on the left & the child looked. Seeing that somehow makes me happy too:))
